Gaynor has taught children from the ages of 4 to 13, working in primary, middle and independent schools in Sussex, Kent and Berkshire. She has taught a range of subjects, including English, Maths, History, Geography, Religious Studies and Citizenship. Having gained a degree in History from Manchester University, she worked in the Civil Service for a while, living in London, particularly enjoying the cultural life of the capital. After marrying John in 1984, she lived in Hertfordshire and then moved to Sussex and decided to take a PGCE at Sussex University and start a career in teaching. Her interest in writing developed from work as a teacher , providing resources for use within the classroom and also for school performances. She is enthusiastic about the way in which subjects can be linked within the primary curriculum, especially within the creative arts. She believes that children learn best when they are able to understand subjects such as history through other mediums such as art, drama, music and poetry. This enthusiasm is reflected in the educational resources that Gaynor has had published and remains at the centre of her work.Details of her books can be viewed on this website and through the links given to publishers.
Her teaching responsibilities have included, History, Literacy, Religious Education, Geography, Citizenship and Special Educational Needs. In 2005 she gained a certificate of Enabling Learning from Canterbury Christchurch University after studying developments within education for additional needs.
